Staff Reporter :: A tragic road accident in the United States has claimed the lives of a father and son from the Sunamganj district in Sylhet. The accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. local time on Thursday in Hamtramck, Michigan.
The victims have been identified as Md. Nur Mia (65) and his son, M. Mahidul Islam Sujon (35), from Buraiya village in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district. Nur Mia had been residing in the USA with his family.
According to Sujon's cousin, Naved Ahmed, Sujon had moved to the USA a few years ago after getting married. About two months ago, he brought his father and other family members to join him there. On Thursday night, Sujon was driving his father to his in-laws' house when a car coming from the opposite direction collided with their private car, killing both father and son on the spot.
Naved added that arrangements are being made to bring the bodies back to Bangladesh.
