Shai Hope’s milestone 50th Test appearance will have to wait as Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced a heavily rotated 15-member squad for their upcoming tour of Bangladesh, omitting both Hope and premier fast bowler Alzarri Joseph for workload management.

The Caribbean side is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka and Sylhet later this month for a two-Test series, with the opening match beginning on October 28. Prior to the tour, the visitors will play a three-day warm-up fixture.

Strategic Rest and Workload Management

Shai Hope, the limited-overs captain and a linchpin in the Test format, has been granted a break following a rigorous schedule of continuous cricket, with CWI prioritizing preparations for next year's World Cup qualifiers. Meanwhile, 42-Test veteran Alzarri Joseph has been withdrawn purely as a precautionary measure. Medical experts advised that the heavy bowling workloads and humid conditions expected over long spells in Dhaka and Sylhet pose unnecessary injury risks. Keemo Paul has been recalled to replace Joseph.

New Faces and Returning Names

Domestic sensation Kevin Wickham has earned his maiden call-up after hitting three consecutive centuries in the West Indies Championship. The 23-year-old middle-order batsman adds fresh depth to the squad, alongside opening batsman John Campbell, who returns following a hamstring injury recovery.

Players not involved in the ongoing T20 series in India are currently training at the Chennai Super Kings Academy before arriving in Bangladesh on Sunday. For Bangladesh, securing clean sweeps across both venues in Dhaka and Sylhet remains vital for their World Test Championship campaign.
