The UK government has imposed strict sanctions on UK-based Bangladeshi company ‘Dream Home Travels and Tours Limited’ for illegally trafficking people to Russia to fight in Ukraine.
The action has been taken under the UK’s ‘Global Irregular Migration and Human Trafficking Prohibition Regulations-2025’. This is the first time the British government has imposed sanctions on a Bangladeshi-owned company.
In addition to this ban, the country's government has ordered the seizure of all assets owned by the owner of Dream Home Travels in the UK.
A statement from the UK Foreign Office said that the company had fraudulently recruited Bangladeshi nationals and subjected them to horrific exploitation.
The investigation revealed that Dream Home Travels advertised high-paying jobs in the Russian service sector. Many Bangladeshi citizens were lured to the country by this lure. But the picture changed after they reached Russia. They were forced to fight in Russia's ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine.
The British Foreign Office has said that it will adopt a zero-tolerance policy against those who endanger people's lives through human trafficking and irregular migration. News Analysis Service
Russia's invasion of Ukraine has been ongoing since February 2022. The ban has further reinforced the accusations that migrants were involved in this war, which had been raised in the international community.
