Professor Dr. Md. Khairul Islam of the Department of Business Administration at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the university.
Today (May 23) the information was confirmed through a notification issued by the Science and Technology University Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education. Assistant Secretary Md. Shah Alam Siraj signed the notification.
According to the official notification, the appointment was made with the approval of the President and Chancellor under Section 11(1) of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Act, 1987.
As per the notification, Professor Khairul Islam will serve as Vice-Chancellor for a term of four years from the date of joining or until the date of his retirement, whichever comes first. During his tenure, he will receive salary and benefits equivalent to his substantive post along with other facilities as per the rules. The notification also stated that, as the chief executive officer of the university, he must reside on the campus full-time while carrying out his responsibilities.
Professor Dr. Khairul Islam is currently serving as the head of the Department of Business Administration at SUST. He also previously served as the Dean of the School of Management and Business Administration of the university.
