Tension flared in Dhaka's Tejgaon area late Friday night after unidentified miscreants hurled two crude bombs (cocktails) in front of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). One of the devices exploded on the spot, while the other was safely neutralised by the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The incident occurred around 1:15 AM on Friday (October 9, 2026). The sudden explosion in one of the capital's highest-security zones triggered immediate alert among law enforcement agencies.

Providing details on Saturday morning (October 10), Ibne Mizan, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP’s Tejgaon Division, stated that two assailants on a motorcycle pulled up near the site prior to the attack. "The riders lingered at the spot for two to three minutes to survey the surroundings. They then hurled two crude bombs before speeding away," the DC said.

Initial police intelligence indicates that the attackers fled towards the Kafrul road via Agargaon following the blast.

The DMP Bomb Disposal Unit arrived promptly to deactivate the second unexploded device and clear the scene for forensic collection. Law enforcement officials confirmed that an active investigation is underway, with teams scrutinizing surrounding CCTV footage to track down the assailants and bring them to justice.
