Hasan Mahmud produced a sensational spell of fast bowling to etch his name into the record books, becoming the first-ever Bangladeshi pacer to claim a Test hat-trick. The 26-year-old speedster ripped through Afghanistan's lower order on Day 3 of the Abu Dhabi Test, placing Bangladesh firmly in control of the match with a substantial lead in sight.

Prior to Hasan's extraordinary feat, only two Bangladeshi bowlers had ever taken a Test hat-trick—both spinners: leg-spinner Alok Kapali against Pakistan in Peshawar (2003) and off-spinner Sohag Gazi against New Zealand in Chattogram (2013). Ending a 13-year wait, Hasan became the third Bangladeshi overall and the first specialist quick to achieve the milestone.

How the Historic Hat-Trick Unfolded

Operating with the second new ball on Sunday morning, Bangladesh’s pace attack capitalized on favorable movement. Shortly after Ebadot Hossain broke the dangerous partnership, Hasan delivered his masterclass:
1st Wicket (Ismat Alam): A sharp nip-backer off a length that stayed slightly low, crashing straight into Ismat's stumps.
2nd Wicket (Qais Ahmad): Pitching just outside off-stump, Hasan extracted subtle movement away from the right-hander, inducing an edge that was brilliantly caught diving to his right by keeper Litton Das.
The Hat-Trick Ball (Zia-ur-Rehman Akbar): Facing the high-pressure hat-trick ball, newcomer Zia-ur-Rehman was trapped on the pads by a searing, incoming delivery. Though the on-field umpire initially turned down the appeal, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto opted for a review. Replays confirmed the ball was clipping the top of off-stump, overturning the decision and sparking wild celebrations.

Hasan completed his fourth five-wicket haul in Test cricket shortly after, dismissing Yamin Ahmadzai caught behind to cap off a historic spell in Abu Dhabi.
